The Public Service Commission (Lok Sewa Aayog) conducts open and competitive examinations to recruit candidates for the Computer Operator position.

The examination for Computer Operator is conducted in two phases:
- Phase - 1: Written Examination
- Phase - 2: Practical Examination & Interview
Written Examination
The written examination is divided into first and second papers, each worth 100 marks, for a total of 200 marks. The examinations are conducted separately on the same day. The medium language of the written examination paper will be either Nepali or English, depending on the language in which the course content is given. However, both languages can be used when the content needs to be clarified.
First Paper: Objective Multiple-Choice Questions
The first paper comprises objective multiple-choice questions from two subjects:
- General Awareness and Public Management
- 20 questions, each worth 2 marks (Total: 40 marks).
- Job-Based Knowledge
- 30 questions, each worth 2 marks (Total: 60 marks).
Total: 50 questions worth 100 marks.
Duration: 45 minutes.
Passing Marks: 40.
Rules for Objective Multiple-Choice Questions:
- Answers must be written in English capital letters: A, B, C, D.
- Using small letters (a, b, c, d) or any other indication will result in the cancellation of the answer sheet.
- Incorrect answers receive a 20% negative mark.
- Unanswered questions neither gain nor lose marks.
- Calculators are not permitted.
Second Paper: Subjective Questions
The second paper consists of subjective questions about Job-Based Knowledge:
- Short Answer Questions: 12 questions worth 60 marks.
- Long Answer Questions: 4 questions worth 40 marks.
Total: 16 questions worth 100 marks.
Rules for Subjective Questions:
- A single long question or a long question with multiple parts may be asked.
- Each section will have separate answer sheets.
- Answers must be written in the answer book of the same section.
Practical Examination (50 Marks)
- Duration: 1 hour.
- Passing Marks: 25.
Interview (30 Marks)
Candidates who pass the written examination will proceed to the interview phase, which is worth 30 marks.
Eligibility
Academic Qualification

For Computer Operator, Miscellaneous:
- Proficiency Certificate/Diploma level or equivalent in Computer Science from a recognized institution.
OR - Proficiency Certificate/Diploma level or equivalent + at least 6 months of computer training from a registered institution.
OR - Proficiency Certificate/Diploma level or equivalent + 6-month computer training program by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
- Proficiency Certificate/Diploma level or equivalent in Computer Science from a recognized institution.

For Federal Parliament, Information Technology, Computer Operator Position:
- 10+2 in Computer Science from a recognized institution.
OR - 10+2 + at least 5 months of computer training from a registered institution.
- 10+2 in Computer Science from a recognized institution.
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 18 years.
- Maximum Age: 35 years.
- Maximum Age for Women and People with Disability: 40 years.
- No Age Limit: Permanent staff of the Government of Nepal currently in service.

Notwithstanding anything written in this syllabus, any amendments made to the laws, acts, rules, regulations, and policies included in the syllabus three months before the exam date will be considered part of this syllabus.
